After pouring relentlessly a thousand miles down south from the Yangtze's source, the river executes a most remarkable bend and head back up to the north. This is the famous Yangtze's first bend. Atlas, the sharpness of the bend. The fate of the Middle Kingdom. The Chinese called it Jin Sha Wan (Golden Sand Bend) at Shigu Town.
Shigu Town, an ancient town whose history began long before the Mongol invasion led by Kublai Khan (Yuan Dynasty 1271-1368). "The inclusion of southern China in 1279 made the Mongol Empire the largest the world has ever seen" (Lonely Planet's China)
