Getting Ready

Be well prepared for a trekking trip. Some useful tips are:

  1. Invest on a good pair of trekking shoes. Make sure that you have shoes which soles provide sufficient grip on the ground. The shoes should have strong in-sole that support you feet comfortably. Also preferably waterproof.
  2. Sun block and moisturing lotion are a must. Li Jiang is about 2,400m above sea level. You can easily get sun burns outdoors.
  3. Walking stick is a great help when climbing the mountain.
  4. Adequate water. Isotonic water such as 100Plus or 'equivalent' had glucose and salt content. They are good for energy replacement.
  5. At 2,400m above sea level, the air in Li Jiang is thin. Some people suffer from high altitude sickness due to lack of oxygen. So, if you feel giddy and have stomach upset, tell your guide immediately. He should be able to help you.
