Dong Ba language

The Dong Ba language is a very special form of pictographic language. It was originated from the Na Xi tribe in Yunnan, China. The language comprises over 2,000 characters. The language was pass-on through many generations by Priests who carve the spiritual scripts on wood and stone. These scripts recorded the philosophy of the early Na Xi tribe, their understanding of the world, the people, nature, the family and other social and economical ideology.

Today, the modem Na Xi tribe can still understand the Dong Ba language and the language is considered the only living pictograph language in the world.

The words and expressions are written from left to right,and from top to bottom. Dong Ba language is believed to be invented before the 11 A.D.
