Won an Online Lottary? PDF Print E-mail

Have you ever received email informing you that you have won a online lottary. Sometime it came from Spain, Holland and even the UK. Usually, I would delete the email without a second thought as I know it is a scam.

But this time, I decided to play it along with them. My purpose is to at least waste their time :) My next purpose is to document the email so that hopefully it can serve as a warning to others. You can read all the correspondence here. And yes, be aware that this is a scam!

Letter 1 : Winning Notification

The 1st letter from The National Lottery. You can tell is a scam because the email address is from MSN and the contact address is yahoo.com! How could an organisation work without their own email address?

Letter 7: Mode of Collection of Fund

Few minute after Letter 6, I received this letter. This is a tricky one. They tell you there are two way to get the money - one by their specialised courier and another one is to go to UK personally. All expenses have to be paid by yourself. I think generally, we prefer a cheque so I opted for Method 1.

Pleese as soon as you are ready for the courier service that is when you are advice
to contact them.

This development was aproved on the 1st of january due to complaint made by the Gecs delivery dept.

Sometimes winners who are not ready to file for their claim do contact the courier
with no commitmental intention.

The courier dept will like that you contact them when you are ready for their
service so as to avoid not attending to you due to the fact that they are other
winners who are ready and willing to courier their parcel to their destination via
the delivery dept.

The gecs is the only affilaite company to the UK National Lottery and as such they
do not transfer money Via account.

They only courier parcel due to the fact that it does not contain only your winning
cheque but also contain other document that will facilitate the clearance of your
cheque in your bank.

Your winning prize must be remitted in its full value which makes it impossible to
deduct any amount from your won prize for courier expenses.

NOTE: This office will not be responsible for any outstanding fees (Courier
Charges). Services rendered by GLOBAL EXPRESS COURIER SERVICE are to be paid by you and not the lottery board.

Have it in mind that your won prize cannot be deducted from, this is because your
your cheque has been deposited in an escrow account and insued in your name and
cannot be cashed by anyone else but you. This is in accordance with section 13(1)(n)
of the national gambling act as adopted in 1993 and amended on 3RD July 1996 by the
constitutional assembly. This is to protect winners and to avoid misappropriation of
funds.

Its is imperative that you add your identification number {CPEL/OWN/9877} as the
subject of any correspondence with the courier company to ensure they respond in a
timely manner.

You are to contact the courier delivery dept on their charges to your destination
listed below
